The New KGMB, KHNL, K5...What Does This Mean to You?

It's no secret that the combination of KGMB, KHNL and K5 into a new media entity is one of the biggest changes in Hawaii's TV news industry. But what does this change mean for those of us in Hawaii's public relations, marketing and advertising industries? How will we work with this new media entity? News Director Chris Archer and Marketing Director Candace Hirleman will be on hand to fill us in.

  • Chris Archer has been the news director at KGMB since May 2006. Since joining KGMB, his team successfully launched its morning show - Sunrise on KGMB - and he helped the station climb the ratings to #1 at 5 p.m., 10 p.m. and in the morning. Prior to coming to Hawaii, Archer worked his way up in the KRON newsroom in San Francisco starting as a production assistant in 1997.
  • Marketing Director Candace Hirleman is leading the branding and marketing effort for the new media entity. Hirleman is a self-professed TV addict and is obsessed with marketing. Some campaigns that Hirleman sprearheaded include the "Why Did the Anchor Cross the Road?," "Sunrise Training Camp," and "Sunrise on KGMB Weather Tryouts," just to name a few. She started in the TV business as a teleprompter operator in Sacramento and worked her way up to the Director of Creative Services at KGMB.

**Due to the increased cost of doing business, reservations to PRSA Hawaii programs made via credit card will be assessed a nominal processing fee.

PARKING
The Plaza Club
$5 for 2 hours parking validation. Pay cash at the door for parking validation; thereafter, $2.50 per half hour paid to booth attendant upon departure.

Harbor Court Municipal Parking
$0.75 per half hour up to 2 hours; thereafter, $1.50 per half hour paid to booth attendant upon departure.

Other parking garages are also available in the area.

Reservation and Cancellation Policy:
Advance registration will close at 3 p.m. on the day prior to the event. After that, a $5 walk-in fee will apply. Cancellations will be accepted up to one week prior to the event. Due to out-of-pocket expenses incurred, there is a $5 cancellation fee for reservations made via credit card; no refunds will be issued for cancellations received after the deadline; and no- shows will be invoiced.
