Shauna Goya joined Communications Pacific (CommPac) in 2010 and, after quickly demonstrating a strong ability to deliver client results, was promoted to senior account executive by the end of the year. In early 2012 she earned a further promotion, to account supervisor. Shauna specializes in media relations, for which she is well prepared, having worked a decade at The Honolulu Advertiser, formerly Hawaii’s largest daily newspaper (it has since been sold and merged with its competitor). A copy editor at the Advertiser, Shauna has strong writing and communications skills.
Shauna has a deep understanding of the changing media landscape and a rich network of Hawaii media contacts. She has built relationships with editors and reporters in both broadcast and print media, and knows former colleagues who work at all the major media outlets. Shauna is also in touch with the “big players” in Hawaii’s social media world. Active in social media herself, she is aware of the increasingly important role of bloggers and other citizen journalists.
Shauna has been effective in securing favorable media coverage for all her clients, which range from construction and development companies to healthcare, insurance and retail.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Shauna is a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the University of Hawaii, where she earned her degree in journalism and speech.
Shauna is a member of PRSA Hawaii and is co-chairing the Communications Committee. She is also active with the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce and before her transition to PR, held board positions for 10 years with the Asian American Journalists Association.
